Minister James Jamison Obituary

Minister James Edward Jamison, age 74, a long time resident of Coalwood, West Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026  at his residence in Greensboro, North Carolina.

He was born in Welch, West Virginia, on the 25th of August, 1951, into the loving parentage of Edward L. and Doris (Kelley) Jamison.  He grew up and had made his home in Coalwood.  After completing his high school education at Big Creek High School, he received his Associate's Degree  in Business Management at Bluefield Sate College.  Before the closing of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, he and his wife, Lura Ann were very faithful members for many, many years. He later joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Welch, serving as an associate minister.  During his time in the work force, he had held several positions.  He was last employed as the Director of the McDowell Ambulance Authority that was formerly in Welch.

James will be remembered as a man who loved God and studying the Bible.  He took great pride in his love for his wife, Lura Ann, his son, Maurice and his wife, Jessica and was especially proud of his granddaughter, Jasmynn.  He was an outstanding "big brother," to his siblings and a beloved uncle, cousin and a well respected, cherished friend.

In addition to his parents, Edward and Doris, he was preceded in death on October 10, 2025 by his wife, Lura Ann Clack Jamison; one brother, Victor Jamison and one infant brother in earlier years.

James Edward Jamison will be greatly missed by his devoted, loving son, Maurice and his wife, Jessica Jamison and his granddaughter, Jasmynn N. Jamison of High Point, North Carolina; his siblings:  Kenneth and Darrell (Katherine) Jamison, Etta (Ronald) Heard, Donna (Ivan Sr.) Adams, Randy (Tynese) and William (Teresa) Jamison; his brothers and sisters-in-love:  Charles "Buckshot" Senior, Paul Clack, Carolyn "Jennie" ( Nelson) Ross, Wilma and (Buford) Brown and Alice (Desi) Scales; a host of nephews and nieces; his cousins, Church family and his friends.

Minister Jamison's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12;00 Noon on Friday, February 6, 2026, with Reverend George Masterson officiating at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.
